Recycled polyester

Recycled polyester is obtained from old plastic bottles and leftovers from production. These are shredded, washed and spun into a new fibre. This manufacturing process is significantly more energy-efficient than the production of a new fibre. This cycle also helps to reduce the impact on the environment and conserve resources.

Regenerated cotton

Regenerated cotton is obtained from offcuts. These are collected during ongoing production, then sorted by colour, shredded and woven into fresh yarn. New raw material is often added in the process. The offcuts are utilised in this process to reduce the environmental impact and conserve resources.

Social responsibility

Foundation „help and hope”

The help and hope foundation in Germany was set up in 2005 by Stefan Heinig and other committed entrepreneurs to give disadvantaged children and young people the chance of a better future.

Woolworth has been supporting the foundation regularly since 2010 with donations in kind and financial contributions. For this commitment, we received the "Gold Sponsor" award from help and hope in 2020.

We have not sold plastic bags since 2016 and instead offer our customers sustainable and reusable PET carrier bags. In this way, we improve our eco-balance and at the same time support projects of the help and hope foundation. Because for every PET carrier bag sold, Woolworth donates 5 cents to the charitable foundation.

In addition, there are donation plates for the help and hope foundation in every Woolworth store. Our customers can support the important work of the foundation with even the smallest amounts.
